What does value mean …..
I did some poking around on the net with this word in mind and it led me down an interesting road of thoughtful discovery …
Value is :-The principles and standards of behaviour …or ones judgement of what is important in life…there is moral code and moral values, general standards and codes of behaviour ….
you could consider someone or something as being important in fact valued …..
There is also the monetary worth of something….it’s value !!!!
Or what about these words ..dependability, reliability, loyalty, committed these are what are known as core values …
Value is important and are lasting beliefs or ideals shared by members of a culture that are deemed good or bad and values have major influences on a person’s behaviour and attitude …it serves as a broad guideline in all situations ….
So have a think about your worth ….
Do you know your worth?….do you feel useful ?… do you feel you have a purpose ?
Do you see yourself as valued ??……
These are questions that since MS hit me I have asked myself and people close to me over and over again I got stuck like a record blipping over the fact that I wasn’t sure anymore if I was valued or had value …then I stumbled across this story and it has given me a fresh perspective life …..so …
A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill in a room of 200, he asked,
“Who would like this $20 bill?”
Hands started going up….( Mine would probably have been one of the first )!!
He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up….( I think I would have gasped) !!!
He then asked, “Who still wants it?”
Still the hands were up in the air…. (Including mine) !!
“Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.
He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. “Now who still wants it?” (Me Me ME…. well unless it was torn because that becomes difficult to spend doesn’t it !! )
And still the hands went into the air….
The gentleman continued with a truly wonderful set of words ….
“My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value.
It was still worth $20. This was So bloody true …..
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.
We have all felt at times like we are worthless.
But the big lesson is that no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.
my message today is this…
You have worth you are special and you are loved – Don’t ever forget it!
love and light Kirsten xx
Perfect. I’m never sure of my ‘value’ or worth. This has definitely given me food for thought. Thank you. Xx
